Landing page statistics: what 232 pages get wrong
We audited 232 landing pages, one per site, with the same 36-check rubric, and counted how often each check fails. These numbers come from real audits, not a survey. They are rebuilt every month at this address.
Updated November 2026. Audits from 2026-10-24 to 2026-10-31.
Key findings
- 89% of the 232 landing pages we audited aren't summed up by an AI model the way their headline puts it.
- 89% of the 232 landing pages we audited list features without saying what the visitor gets from them.
- 88% of the 232 landing pages we audited don't say who the product is for.
- 88% of the 232 landing pages we audited have a headline that names the product or a category instead of a result for the visitor.
- 87% of the 232 landing pages we audited keep their proof away from the button, where the decision happens.
- 75% of the 232 landing pages we audited use a button that doesn't say what you get ("Get started", "Learn more").
- 72% of the 232 landing pages we audited never say why to pick them over the alternatives.
- 72% of the 232 landing pages we audited offer many exits in the first screen.
- The median landing page scores 67 out of 100. Only 22% score 75 or more, and none reached 90.
- Clarity is the weakest area: pages earn 50% of its points on average.
- The basics are mostly fine: only 2% fail “Headline in the first phone screen”, 3% fail “Can be found”, 3% fail “Nothing looks unfinished”.
The pattern: most pages are built well enough. What they leave out is the message, who it's for, what result they get, and why to believe it.
All 36 checks, by how often they fail
A page fails a check when it loses any of its points. Measured checks are computed in code from the page; judged checks are scored by an AI model, five times, and the median is kept.

Sample and method
- Sample: 232 sites, audited between 2026-10-24 and 2026-10-31. One audit per site: the newest finished one (www and non-www count as one site). Pricing pages are left out.
- Where the pages come from: pages people audited themselves, pages founders shared in public feedback threads, and our ranked set of well-known homepages (34% of the sample). Agent and API runs and our own tests are left out.
- What "fails" means: the page lost at least one point on that check.
- How checks are scored: 25 checks are measured in code from the live page; 11 are judged by an AI model from the screenshots and text, five times, keeping the median. The full rubric is on how we score.
- Limits: the sample is self-selected and leans toward indie and SaaS products, so it isn't a random sample of the web. Judged checks can differ by a point between runs. We publish aggregates only and never name a site from someone's own audit.
