linear.app homepage teardown: 58/100
Linear's iconic aesthetic is let down above the fold by missing hero CTAs, heavy CSS/canvas animation pop-in that leaves hero assets pitch black on initial render, and repeated H1 markup.
We ran linear.app through PageCritic's landing page audit. It scored 58/100, #11 of the 11 SaaS landing page examples we scored (average 73) and #65 of all 70 homepages in our ranked list. Its strongest area is Value prop (70), and its weakest is CTA (42).
Audited on 2026-10-18 from desktop and mobile screenshots plus the page's HTML. The scores are an AI's opinion of conversion best practices, not measured conversion rates, and linear.app didn't ask for this review. The page may have changed since.

Top 3 issues, with fixes
1. No dedicated primary CTA button above the fold
The hero section contains no action button whatsoever—the only conversion path is the small 'Sign up' pill in the top navigation bar. Visitors must either look at the header or scroll aimlessly to figure out how to try Linear.
Fix: Add a prominent primary CTA button (e.g., 'Start building — Free') directly beneath the subheadline, paired with a secondary 'Book a demo' or 'See how it works' link.
2. Severe progressive rendering delay leaves the hero canvas pitch black
The desktop and mobile above-the-fold renders show the main product preview area completely black and the text blurred during entrance animation. On first paint or slower connections, users see an empty dark void.
Fix: Implement an instant static fallback SVG/WebP frame of the product interface so users immediately see the UI before high-fidelity animations or interactive WebGL canvas elements hydrate.
3. Subheadline contrast is unreadable against the pure black background
The text 'Purpose-built for planning and building products. Designed for the AI era.' renders at extremely low contrast (dark gray on near-black #08090a), failing basic WCAG readability standards.
Fix: Increase text brightness to at least #8A8F98 or #D1D5DB to ensure the value proposition can be read without eye strain.
What the linear.app homepage does well
- Uncompromising brand identity and dark-mode aesthetic that resonates deeply with design-conscious engineers and technical founders.
- Direct, opinionated messaging embracing AI workflows ('teams and agents') that clearly stakes out Linear's forward-looking territory.
- Exceptionally clean header navigation hierarchy with clear separation between marketing links, log in, and registration.
