supabase.com homepage teardown: 82/100

Supabase delivers an iconic developer-targeted hero, but splits critical value propositions across a disjointed layout and misses zero-friction proof triggers above the fold.

We ran supabase.com through PageCritic's landing page audit. It scored 82/100, #1 of the 11 SaaS landing page examples we scored (average 73) and #1 of all 70 homepages in our ranked list. Its strongest area is Design (90), and its weakest is Mobile (78).

Audited on 2026-10-18 from desktop and mobile screenshots plus the page's HTML. The scores are an AI's opinion of conversion best practices, not measured conversion rates, and supabase.com didn't ask for this review. The page may have changed since.

Top 3 issues, with fixes

1. Split hero layout decouples headline from explanatory copy

On desktop, the headline and CTAs are positioned on the far left, while the explanatory paragraph ('Start your project with a Postgres database...') is pushed to the far right with massive whitespace in between. Eye-tracking suffers as visitors read 'Build in a weekend / Scale to millions' and have to jump across empty grid space to understand what the product actually is.

Fix: Keep the standard F-pattern: place the explanatory body copy directly underneath 'Build in a weekend Scale to millions', followed immediately by the 'Start your project' and 'Request a demo' button cluster.

2. No pricing tier or friction-reduction microcopy near the primary CTA

The meta description explicitly promises 'Start for free', but the hero button simply says 'Start your project'. Developers are hesitant to click into sign-up flows when unsure whether a credit card or contract is immediately required.

Fix: Add subtle microcopy directly underneath the CTA buttons: 'Free tier available • No credit card required • Deploy in seconds'.

3. Above-the-fold social proof is missing on desktop and mobile viewport

Supabase has immense developer trust (111.6k GitHub stars, Chatbase, Lovable, eXp Realty), but above the fold only a subtle GitHub star counter appears in the top navigation. First-time enterprise or skeptical buyers see feature cards rather than credible validation.

Fix: Insert a high-contrast enterprise customer logo bar ('Trusted by Lovable, Chatbase, eXp Realty, and 100k+ builders') immediately between the hero CTA row and the product feature bento grid.
