neon.tech homepage teardown: 77/100
Landing page examples › Dev tool › neon.tech
The headline names a category and a product feature ('Lakebase Postgres') but never says what the visitor gets, so a first-time reader has to guess what Neon does for them.
We ran neon.tech through PageCritic's landing page audit. It scored 77/100, #1 of the 9 developer tool landing page examples we scored (average 69) and #10 of all 79 homepages in our ranked list. Its strongest area is Mobile (100), and its weakest is Clarity (55).
Audited on 2026-10-24 from desktop and mobile screenshots plus the page's HTML. The scores are an AI's opinion of conversion best practices, not measured conversion rates, and neon.tech didn't ask for this review. The page may have changed since.

Top 3 issues, with fixes
1. Unclear what the product is
'The backend for apps and agents, built to scale on Lakebase Postgres' is abstract; 'Lakebase Postgres' is a branded term most visitors won't recognise, so the page is only guessable.
Fix: Say plainly what Neon is in the hero, for example 'Serverless Postgres for apps and AI agents' and mention the Postgres database explicitly in the first line.
2. Too many exits in the first screen
With 43 links and buttons (a mega-menu, announcement bar, nav, and logo strip) the visitor has many places to go besides the hero's one main action, which dilutes attention on 'Get started'.
Fix: Trim the top navigation to a few items, drop the 'Discord' and '23.3k' GitHub links from the first view, and move the Product/Solutions mega-menus behind a single entry point.
3. Audience is too broad
'Apps and agents' does not tell a developer, startup or enterprise team whether this is for them, so visitors who fit no segment bounce.
Fix: Name the audience in the subheadline, e.g. 'For developers and startups building apps and AI agents that need a Postgres database'.
What the neon.tech homepage does well
- The headline is short (12 words) and set large at 56 px, so it is the first thing the eye lands on.
- The white 'Get started' button has 21:1 contrast against the black hero and is 44 px tall, so it clearly stands out as the main action.
- Social proof is strong: a named founder quote, '100K+ Projects' and '20M+ Developers' are on the page, and the Databricks and enterprise logos add credibility.
