replicate.com homepage teardown: 54/100
Landing page examples › AI › replicate.com
The hero shows the product in a developer-only code snippet, yet the headline 'Run AI with an API.' and the subhead never say who it's for or what outcome the visitor gets, and the first screen is crowded with 21 clickable items.
We ran replicate.com through PageCritic's landing page audit. It scored 54/100, #9 of the 9 AI startup landing page examples we scored (average 70) and #75 of all 79 homepages in our ranked list. Its strongest area is Mobile (100), and its weakest is Value prop (20).
Audited on 2026-10-24 from desktop and mobile screenshots plus the page's HTML. The scores are an AI's opinion of conversion best practices, not measured conversion rates, and replicate.com didn't ask for this review. The page may have changed since.

Top 3 issues, with fixes
1. No audience named in the hero
The visitor cannot tell whether this is for developers, ML engineers, or product teams. The only audience cue is the code block, which is easy to miss and ambiguous to non-developers.
Fix: Name the audience in the subheadline, e.g. replace 'Run and fine-tune models. Deploy custom models. All with one line of code.' with wording such as 'For developers shipping AI features: run, fine-tune and deploy models with one line of code.'
2. No specific benefit in the hero
The only value cue is the generic 'Get started for free'. Nothing says what the visitor gains, such as faster shipping or no GPU management.
Fix: Add a concrete benefit to the subheadline, e.g. 'Ship an AI feature in a day, scale to millions of users, and pay only for the seconds your code runs.'
3. No reason to choose Replicate
Nothing on the first screen contrasts Replicate with running models yourself or with other API providers, so the visitor has no reason to pick it over alternatives.
Fix: Add a differentiator near the hero, such as 'Thousands of community models, production-ready APIs, no GPU setup', so the visitor sees why this platform specifically.
What the replicate.com homepage does well
- The black 'Get started for free' button sits directly under the headline in the first screen and is the first thing the eye lands on after the text.
- The black button has 21:1 contrast against the pastel gradient and is 54 px tall, so it clearly stands out from the rest of the hero.
- The 'we scale down to zero and don't charge you a thing' line removes the risk of trying the product by stating that idle time costs nothing.
