usefathom.com homepage teardown: 85/100

Landing page examples › Indie › usefathom.com

The hero names the category but never says who Fathom is for or what the visitor gains, leaving "Analytics without the cookies" as a feature claim that a Google Analytics switcher has to decode.

We ran usefathom.com through PageCritic's landing page audit. It scored 85/100, #1 of the 9 indie hacker landing page examples we scored (average 72) and #3 of all 79 homepages in our ranked list. Its strongest area is Trust (100), and its weakest is Clarity (60).

Audited on 2026-10-24 from desktop and mobile screenshots plus the page's HTML. The scores are an AI's opinion of conversion best practices, not measured conversion rates, and usefathom.com didn't ask for this review. The page may have changed since.

Top 3 issues, with fixes

1. No audience named in the hero

The first screen never says who this is for; "See where visitors come from, which pages they read, and what converts" could describe any analytics tool, so a site owner, agency or EU business can't self-select in the first seconds.

Fix: Add an audience line above or in the subheadline, e.g. "Privacy-friendly analytics for site owners, agencies and European businesses who want to leave Google Analytics."

2. Headline is a feature, not a result

"Analytics without the cookies" describes a technical property of the product; it doesn't tell the visitor what they will be able to do or achieve, so the reason to click is left to the subheadline.

Fix: Rewrite the h1 to state the outcome, for example "Know what works on your site, without cookies", and keep "Analytics without the cookies" as the supporting line.

3. AI summary only partly matches the headline

An AI or skimmer summarising the page picks up Google Analytics alternative and privacy, but the headline itself reads as a product attribute, so the page's core promise is only partly carried by its most prominent words.

Fix: Make the h1 and first paragraph state the same promise in plain words: who it is for, what they get, and the privacy angle, e.g. "Fathom is a privacy-friendly Google Analytics alternative for site owners."
