strava.com homepage teardown: 56/100
Landing page examples › App › strava.com
The hero headline "Community-Powered Motivation" is a slogan that never says what Strava is or what you get, and a cookie banner covers half the first screen while the three sign-up buttons compete with the app-store and nav links.
We ran www.strava.com through PageCritic's landing page audit. It scored 56/100, #8 of the 10 app landing page examples we scored (average 62) and #73 of all 79 homepages in our ranked list. Its strongest area is Mobile (87), and its weakest is Design (30).
Audited on 2026-10-24 from desktop and mobile screenshots plus the page's HTML. The scores are an AI's opinion of conversion best practices, not measured conversion rates, and strava.com didn't ask for this review. The page may have changed since.

Top 3 issues, with fixes
1. Headline is a slogan, not a result
"Community-Powered Motivation" names a value but no outcome, so a visitor cannot tell what they will achieve by signing up.
Fix: Replace the h1 with a result-led line such as "Track your runs and rides, and share them with your crew" and keep the slogan as a smaller eyebrow if the brand needs it.
2. No clear reason to choose Strava over alternatives
"Join for the tracking, stay for the community." is a nice line but sits lower on the page, so the hero offers no differentiator against other fitness apps.
Fix: Put a differentiator in the hero subheadline, e.g. "Log every run, ride and hike, then compare with friends and segments from the world's largest athlete community."
3. Category not named in the hero
The first screen never says Strava is a running, cycling or hiking app; visitors must infer it from imagery and the nav.
Fix: Add a category to the subheadline, e.g. "The running, cycling and hiking app to track your activities and share them with friends."
What the strava.com homepage does well
- The headline is short, 32 px and centred in the white panel, so it is the first text the eye reads.
- The orange "Sign Up With Email" button is the strongest colour on the screen and stands out clearly from the white panel.
- The line "Join over 100 million active people on Strava for free." tells visitors up front that sign-up costs nothing.
